50mm f/1.2 + Head-fi goodness

I recently got some new toys for my DSLR: a manual 50mm f/1.2 lens and a new focusing screen. I picked up the new lens because to be blunt, it seemed pretty damn cool to own such a fast lens. With such a thin area of focus with f/1.2, I couldn't get a good focus at all so I went ahead and bought one that does split prism focusing. With that, all I have to do is make sure the vertical lines I want in focus look straight and BOOM, great focus! With the money I spent on this, it seemed fitting to take photos of another hobby I've put some money in. Besides, these wooden headphones sure are pretty...

I am completely spoiled by Whistler. Not only is it a great place to snowboard, but I'm am always in awe of the view no matter where I am on the mountain.

Going to dig into my archives and show some of my photos taken in the last couple of years with my Pentax DSLR. This here is a shot of a wasabi farm that my family and I visited in Japan. Being that I'm a suburb/city boy, it's always quite a treat for me to see a farm and the enormous amount of plants flowing across acres and acres of land in organized fashion.

Seeing my mom cook in the kitchen brings me a strong sense of nostalgia these days. Another sign that I'm getting older I guess.

I thought this scene of the little boy looking through the fence with his mother by his side was very cute and charming.

Angry Fish

I love that street art is randomly placed across the Seattle neighborhoods. I liked this particular piece with the fish chasing one another. Instead of taking a standard centered photo of this, I tried to capture it in a more dynamic and exciting perspective. I think I succeeded, but it may have come at a cost. A random onlooker of this photo would probably have some difficulty getting a clear view of this piece of art as a whole...

I've always found places that had signs with large letters and a basic font very appealing. That combined with the simple menu always gives me a sense of nostalgia for the old times, even if I wasn't even born yet for those times! I'm glad that Pike Place Market is full of old school places like this; it gives Seattle more character to appreciate.

Picturesque Wedding Spot

My friend just got married here about 6 hours ago! This is Villa Montalvo, an Italian Mediterranean style mansion nestled in Saratoga, CA. It certainly is a beautiful place to have a wedding. Unfortunately, there was a bit of drizzling during the actual ceremony and the sun only came out after it was all said and done. Oh well, what can you do?

It was one of the more fun weddings I've been to, so I'm glad I was able to attend. Here's to a prosperous and joyous marriage for Allen and Jessie! *raise glass*

Hanging out with the Pink House alumni

Wanted to start off my photo blog with me and my friends! Here's one with my old college house mates of Pink House fame. We took a photo after a fun night of fine Thai dining, wine, and geek gaming with Settlers of Catan. I believe the best photos are usually ones that capture the memorable times with the people important to you.
